  • Great Opener

by Mo on 10/2/24recordBar - Kansas CityRating: 5 out of 5

Matthew Houch along with his band Phosphorescent are great. It’s just unfortunate that some individuals attend small venues never intending to listen. Matt opened the show solo-which was amazing. Possibly some didn’t know who he was. So they continued to talk during the entire set. The band got louder to try to drown them out. Just too bad to see such a class act at the Record Bar and people wanting to hear their own voice over the preformer!

  • Lyrically vulnerable, acoustically beautiful

    by Matt O on 10/1/24recordBar - Kansas CityRating: 5 out of 5

Phosphorescent is like a beautiful modern day version of a young Bob Dylan when they are at their best (see Revelator). The lyrics are intensely personal (see Song for Zula) and the harmonies simple, yet beautiful often with a tinge of country folk. They pull in songs that are more lighthearted (see New Birth in New England), but it’s the deeper, more introspective tunes when they really crush it. The darker, more introspective songs are more impressive when juxtaposed with the lighter songs. Go see these guys.

  • Ideal concert!

by Ejh on 10/1/24recordBar - Kansas CityRating: 5 out of 5

The ideal concert. A mix of new music, and the favorites. Great crowd interaction and the bonus of being both acoustic and full band. Loved every minute!

  • FANTASTIC

by Dr Weinerdog on 9/26/24Brighton Music Hall presented by Citizens - BostonRating: 5 out of 5

What a great show; a solo set followed by a full band set. Great representation of tunes from across the discography. They all seemed genuinely appreciative of the crowd and happy to be performing. Great band, great songs, great performance. A+

  • Simply beautiful

An emotional first part and a high energy second part. Magic!

  • Phosphorescent was worth the wait…

    by ncander64 on 5/27/24Jefferson Theater - CharlottesvilleRating: 5 out of 5

I was turned onto to Phosphorescent by my WNRN pals, thank you. The show was worth the wait as he and backing band did not disappoint. It was a very fun time at a very decent venue.

  • Love Phosphorescent, venue could improve

by VM on 5/19/24Scoot Inn - AustinRating: 4 out of 5

This is the first time I’d been to Scoot Inn in YEARS somehow. The sound was great and Phosphorescent’s performance was also incredible. But trying to find a good place to actually SEE the show was a feat, and I heard so many people complain about the same thing. I don’t even think this show was quite sold out either. But imo if Scoot Inn could bring in some soul to create a slanted floor, like you see at Stubb’s, that would go a LOOOONG way in visibility for everyone!

  • Excellent Performance

by Chris on 7/17/19Rex Theater - PittsburghRating: 5 out of 5

I was not sure how this show was going to be; it turned out to be superb! Such a great band!

  • Show of a lifetime!!

by Lulu on 6/30/19Rex Theater - PittsburghRating: 5 out of 5

Cozy, intimate show...kicking off with some incense around the stage. Soulful and inspired, with great sound quality. Afterwords we got to speak with some of the fellas who were really, quite down to earth. My friend and I haven’t stopped talking about it!

  • Sound is good there

    by P. F. on 6/27/19Rex Theater - PittsburghRating: 5 out of 5

Musician and his band sounded great. Very entertaining, but im a fan. Wish there was more seating. Im in good health, but standing for about 2 -3 hours is hard on my back and feet. Would like the option to sit at times. I think it could deter some people from going to an event there.
