About

GWAR IN CONCERT:

When it comes to gory thrash metal spectacle, no other band even comes close to the sick and twisted monstrosity that is GWAR. Taking the stage in gruesomely excellent costumes, the band executes their hilarious metal send-ups with a faux-macabre pageantry that approaches the divine, sacrificing celebrity effigies on stage and dousing entire audiences in fake blood. Whether they're unleashing "The New Plague" or demanding that "Zombies, March!", GWAR put on a show like no other act on earth, and despite longtime frontman David Brockie's recent passing the ever-dedicated band still plans to treat fans to select shows in 2014.

BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT:

Formed in Virginia in 1984, GWAR developed an early following with their costumed, prop-filled, spectacle-heavy take on thrash metal. Simultaneously embracing and poking fun at the genre's extremes, the band struck a chord with audiences looking to indulge in metal's excesses without taking them too seriously. Their 1988 debut LP Hell-O was a huge hit in Germany, with subsequent albums like Carnival of Chaos (1997) and We Kill Everything (1999) enjoying considerable success in the US. Over the years, they've landed songs with titles like "Endless Apocalypse" and "War Is All We Know" on charts around the world, an impressive feat for a group of guys who claim the destruction of the human race as their primary goal. In early 2014, GWAR frontman David Brockie was found dead from unknown causes. In a show of tremendous fortitude and strength, the band announced several David Brockie memorial events and still plans to appear at select events throughout the year. Over the course of their career, GWAR have packed venues such as Irving Plaza (NYC), and the Depot (Salt Lake City).

FANS WHO BOUGHT TICKETS SAY:

"Gwar rocked, it was fun, the crowd was definitely into it. The pageantry was definitely funny and fun. Be prepared to get covered in blood..."

"If you like metal and have a sick sense of humor, go see them. What a festival of blood, theatrics, and crisply played thrash metal. GWAR was a complete spectacle ."

"GWAR nailed it. Theatrics were well balanced; new album cut is sick. Eagerly awaiting the next show."

by Ajr on 6/8/25Rating: 5 out of 5

I know Gwar's name and feel since im about 6, the last level of Beavis & Butthead on SNES was a GWAR..thats all i know. I ain't no wat to expect but came bursting with enthusiasm...i wore the Timmy & The Lords Of The Underworld tee & i swear ppl understood the assignment.."Timmahh"allll night from ppl. The community was top notch, lost my friends after a bathroom break, i as my emo self go to everyone around me "i lost my friends!" They told me forget your friends, we're your friends now! Killed me wit kindness..i moshed w these brolic dudes, they saw lightweight me n sent me surfin immediately..lost my phone..security had it. GWAR was a RIOT!!!! All u need to be interested in is having a good time, silly antics, cool music or being somewhere you feel very welcomed and accepted. Mind you, 2 days before static n gwar i was at the Sunny day real estate show, an entire world away from last nights funhouse..i had more fun at gwar.

Amazing show. only lasted an hour and ten minutes? I think they were having technical difficulties. But they were awesome anyways, always go see GWAR

  • Gwar is a site to behold.

by Moral on 11/23/24Brooklyn Bowl Nashville - NashvilleRating: 5 out of 5

Once eve couple of years our lords return to kill everyone in nashville. This was no exception, perfect music, murder, mayhem! Would suggest a Gwar show to any one, it’s an experience unlike any other. Can’t wait until they come back again!

  • Disappointing sound quality

by Sam on 11/22/24The Masquerade - Heaven - AtlantaRating: 3 out of 5

The show was great! I really went to see Dark Funeral and GWAR was just a bonus, but it was fun! I stood in the balcony so that I could see, but the sound quality was trash! Granted, it could be where I was standing, but I couldn’t hear any guitar parts. Sometimes they were halfway through a song before I realized which song it was. I’m a huge Dark Funeral fan, and when I couldn’t even recognize their songs it’s bad.

  • Bucket List band(s) to see

by Mike on 11/22/24The Masquerade - Heaven - AtlantaRating: 4 out of 5

You saw them on Joan Rivers or Sally Jesse back when your body didnt crack like thin ice. Well pop a few Ibuprofen, get off the couch and see what you have been missing! GWAR is an equal opportunity offender no matter what party you like, so put your offended feelings away and enjoy the world of GWAR! Makes me wish I saw GG Allin or Two Live Crew back in the day. If your age is under a school zone speed limit, Go see GWAR to see how the world was before your parents had their first drink.

  • Loved it!

    by Bohab95 on 11/15/24The Ritz - RaleighRating: 5 out of 5

Gwar surely knows how to put a show! Awesome energy from the band and the atendees. It's one of those experiences that you need to live at least once as a metalhead.

  • Great show but the restricted spew was a let down

by Robert Hill on 11/13/24The Ritz - RaleighRating: 4 out of 5

Gwar put on a great show as usual but they did have a restricted spew that limited the blood to just the mosh pit which was a let down. I'm not sure if this was something the venue told them to do but everything was pointed down at the pit when they shot fluids into the crowd. The sound was actually decent quality for the Ritz.

  • Don’t miss
