The Beaches in Concert

The Beaches were still in their late teens when they formed in 2013, but by that point, they were practically veterans already. The musical relationship between sisters Jordan Miller (vocals/guitar) and Kylie Miller (guitar) and their best friend Eliza Enman-McDaniel (drums) dates back to their junior-high school days, when they formed their first band, Done With Dolls.

A glossy, Avril-inspired pop-rock outfit in Hot Topic clothing, Done With Dolls released their debut album in 2009 and became fixtures on The Family Channel thanks to their theme song for the sitcom ‘Really Me.' But before long, the girls were eager to start a new band that reflected their maturing musical tastes, which spanned 1970s new-wave pioneers like The Pretenders, 1990s grunge icons like Nirvana, and early 2000s garage-rockers like The Strokes. With the arrival of keyboardist Leandra Earl, the new group christened itself The Beaches, an ironic tribute to the genteel east-end Toronto neighborhood where the Millers and Enman-McDaniel were raised. After signing a development deal with Island Records in 2014, The Beaches ventured out to L.A. and began a long quest to find the right producer. Eventually, The Beaches found their dream team closer to home: fellow Torontonians Emily Haines and James Shaw of Metric, who brought their wiry indie-rock essence to The Beaches' swaggering 2017 debut album, ‘Late Show.' Powered by attitude-heavy tracks like the young ‘n' desperate rallying cry "Money" and the suggestive strut "T-Shirt," the album earned the band Breakthrough Group of the Year honors at the Juno Awards, as well as prime opening slots for heavy hitters like Eagles of Death Metal and Death From Above 1979. And as anyone who's seen The Beaches live can attest, the band have the vibrantly colored vintage clothes to match their glamtastic throwback jams.

  • Miss for the venue

by Local on 10/21/24Scoot Inn - AustinRating: 2 out of 5

The Beaches were great. Staff blocking people from walking inside to get water after being forced to walk through on the way in was stupid. They're screaming we want more of your money as soon as you arrive by making you walk through and past the bar, but at the end of the show they couldn't care less if you're dehydrated and there's water three feet away. Silly.

  • The Beaches put on a fun show!

by JB on 10/7/24The Echo Lounge & Music Hall - DallasRating: 5 out of 5

I enjoyed The Beaches' show at The Echo Lounge and Music Hall in Dallas, TX. The opening act Charlie Houston was also great! The show was high energy. If you haven't seen The Beaches yet in concert, catch them the next time they are in your area. Same goes for Charlie Houston... Go see her and her band when you get a chance. Both put on a great show!

  • The best show of the year!

by Tank on 10/7/24The Echo Lounge & Music Hall - DallasRating: 5 out of 5

The beaches playing none stop hits! The energy they bring to the stage is unreal and unmatched. The girls are not only beautiful but talented that could rival a lot of bands out there on the worlds biggest stages!

  • Masquerade sucks

by Bubby on 10/6/24The Masquerade - Heaven - AtlantaRating: 1 out of 5

I can't stand when artists announce the Masquerade as a venue. It's filthy, parking is expensive, and I always feel like I'm going to get mugged outside

  • Rockstars 🤩

Honestly one of the best shows of my life! These ladies rocked my socks off, and I can’t wait to see them again in Atlanta

  • Even Better Live

by BWear on 10/3/24The Fillmore Charlotte - CharlotteRating: 5 out of 5

The Beaches have released some incredible studio music, but they are a LIVE band through and through. Don't sleep on the drummer!! Reminds me of Ginger Baker and Mitch Mitchell!

  • What an Amazing Show!

by CannaBob on 9/26/24Roxian Theatre - Mc Kees RocksRating: 5 out of 5

The Beaches put on an awesome show. I will definitely be catching them next time in town.

  • Horrible audio on the lawns

by Huck on 8/28/24Budweiser Stage - TorontoRating: 1 out of 5

I thought the sound crew was going to get it together by the time The Beaches took the stage but boy was I wrong. Extremely loud the entire concert. I hope it sounded better in the good seats. Extremely disappointing. Even with earplugs in, the highs were hard to make out due to the sheer volume. Saw Imagine Dragons here a few weeks ago and had the same issue during the opener, but was fine for Imagine Dragons. A review of the sound check process is needed at Budweiser Stage.

  • Great show

    by Fleeter96 on 8/26/24Budweiser Stage - TorontoRating: 5 out of 5

Sound just like the album is not better. Great energy and lots of emotion from them in their hometown.

  • The Beaches rock Bud Stage

by Anna on 8/25/24Budweiser Stage - TorontoRating: 5 out of 5

What a great show put on by the homegrown band The Beaches. Great energy and amazing performance. Could tell they were having a good time on stage

  • Powerhouse Canadian Bamd

by Random Defence on 8/25/24Budweiser Stage - TorontoRating: 5 out of 5

I've been to a lot of concerts, but this one was different. For the first time, The Beaches headlined a a major venue; and you wouldn't know it. From crowd control/engagement, moving on stage, sound, everything - they put on an amazing show. I've seen them from small stages when they started to this show now. For the entire show, the crowd was on their feet, singing the songs, waving their hands, and cheering. There was so much energy and the band belted out ballads, anthems, and some new tracks. They also treated their openers well bringing them back on stage to play with them for some song; a class act by the band. The Beaches are here and here to stay, make them one of your must she shows the next time they are playing near you.

  • Amazing performance!

by Hershy on 8/25/24Budweiser Stage - TorontoRating: 5 out of 5

This was such a great show, had an amazing time! They rocked!

  • Bud Stage sound was rough

by BeachesFan on 8/25/24Budweiser Stage - TorontoRating: 4 out of 5

The Beaches are amazing! But it was hard to hear what they were saying at times, back on the lawn section! The sound could have been a bit better for the microphones.

  • Flop

by Em on 8/25/24Budweiser Stage - TorontoRating: 2 out of 5

My friends and I left shortly after The Beaches started preforming. The lead singer was very disappointing as we could barely understand the lyrics she was singing. Super unclear and muffled. Unfortunately, we missed our favourite song “Blame Brett” because it wasn’t enjoyable to sit through. The rest of the band was great 👏

  • A great example of strong women

by Yogarage on 7/18/24Rating: 5 out of 5

This band is a well oiled machine. They’re going places, and fast. The chemistry onstage is palpable. The lead singer has a huge stage presence. She seems humble and kind like a laid back beach babe. The entire band just seems like big happy family. Besides all of the above, they really can rock! The lead guitar is like a female version of Zak Wylde. The bass player and drummer were spot on. If I had a daughter I’d make sure she saw this band!

  • Awesome show

by Madtown on 3/3/24Majestic Theatre - MadisonRating: 5 out of 5

High energy with a great stage presence. Can’t wait to see them again!
