The Dead South have never been about constant reinvention, but about full commitment to their own singular way. With confidence in their sound and style and trust in each other, The Dead South arrive at the cusp of explosive global success in an enviable, and well-earned, position: total autonomy. It doesn't really matter what you call their music - progressive bluegrass, alternative Americana, country, folk and western, what matters is that this is theirs, and people from all different backgrounds, beliefs, experiences, languages and ages love it.
True blue right through, The Dead South don't shy away from ruffling traditionalists' feathers from time to time, as they flawlessly execute banjo rolls and lightning-fast mandolin tremolos, 3-part harmonies and songs of classic themes -murder ballads, disloyalty, ghosts and the like, all with a wink and a smile. As they continue their climb to the top, The Dead South have learned an important lesson: If you're going to be outsiders, you'd better be great.
Confirmed by the passion of their Dead South cosplaying fans, who go to concerts in the band's signature look, this four-piece acoustic set from the middle of the Canadian prairies have found their people. Good Company, as they call themselves, is a global community of vastly dissimilar folks who might not see eye to eye, but who stand shoulder to shoulder at the gigs.

Fantastic night at Avondale Brewing. The Dead South played over 2 hrs of solid hits and fan favorites.
I've loved this band for years and was wildly impressed by their live show. They're so in sync with each other and are incredible musicians. They're charming guys and know how to make people have fun. Also the venue (Avondale Brewing in Birmingham) is my new favorite spot to see a band. Getting to be up close to the stage was amazing. Anyway, see The Dead South any chance you get.
Fantastic venue and fantastic opener and band. Definitely in my top 5 concerts attended.
Hands down the best concert I have ever been to. If you have the chance to see the band in person, TAKE IT
We tried to see them last year in the same venue but we couldn’t attend. So this year we took the day off to go because we live in Cincinnati. The Dead South was spectacular and awesome. We talked with the set designer afterwards. We couldn’t figure out what type of music to classify them in. He told us Black Bluegrass. We are fans.
The Dead South is the greatest band on earth, and even better live! A must-see show for people of all musical genre preferences.
I expected The Dead South to be good, but they still blew me away. They were amazing live! Their opener, Sunny Day was fantastic as well. The Pageant is an excellent venue for shows, it is the perfect size, no matter where you are in the venue you have an excellent view of the stage.
Venue sucked. It's tough for an older person to try and stand for 3 hours. When tickets were bought it appeared to be seating, but it was not. Parking was terrible. Love the band and they sounded great, but I guess I'm old and do not like waiting. Show starts at 9, even though there was an earlier duo that we did not know about, you start the show at 9. Dead's songs and performance were great as usual, but the rest of the experience was not.
They are awesome live! Very talented. Our new favorite band.
First time seeing The Dead South an first time goin to Penns Peak, the opening band, Sunny War was really good, we enjoyed them. The Dead South was absolutely outstanding!! I loved the band b4, but now that Ive finally caught a show, Im hooked and need MORE
