Jason Mraz left his Virginia hometown right after high school and struck out for New York City to find his fame and fortune. Honing his skills by busking on the streets in the Big Apple, Jason decided that perhaps this line of work could be performed in a nicer climate. Next stop: San Diego, and soon Jason moved from the outdoor beachside stages to inside a local hot spot called Java Joe's. It was there he met percussionist/vocalist Toca Rivera and the two made a name for themselves all along the California coast. He released his own CD, Jason Mraz: Live and Acoustic 2001, which got the attention of all the major record labels.
His first release on Elektra, Waiting For My Rocket To Come, was released in November 2002. The album sold platinum and included the hit single "The Remedy (I Won't Wait)". That success led to Jason's second release, this time on sister label Atlantic, the Grammy-nominated Mr. A-Z, which debuted at #5 on the charts, and featured the hit single "Wordplay".
For his all-important third album, Jason traveled to England to work with producer Martin Terefe, best known for his work with Coldplay and James Morrison (who guests on the intricate Details in the Fabric). The result is We Sing. We Dance. We Steal Things. which garnered three Grammy nominations - Song of the Year and Best Male Pop Vocal Performance, both for "I'm Yours", and Best Engineered Album. "I'm Yours", the first single from the album, holds the distinction of being the only song to ever top the radio airplay charts in the U.S. in all four major formats - Top 40, Adult Alternative, Adult Contemporary and Hot Adult Contemporary. The second single from the album is "Lucky", a duet with platinum singer-songwriter Colbie Caillat.
In his spare time, Jason is an avid photographer in the unlikely realm of Polaroids. A book of 50 of his unretouched and non-photoshopped photos entitled "a thousand things" was released in October 2008 and has spread the word about this multi-talented artist to the world of galleries and bookstores. Jason is the consummate musical and visual artist of the new century.

I’m a huge fan and made it to San Diego to see him at the Rady Shell a venue right on the water. Holy cow did his performance and venue come together for an incredible night and ending to an already perfect family vacation! The San Diego orchestra accompanied him and sounded so beautiful. Jason sounds exactly the same in person as he does on the albums!! The show ended with fireworks which took the whole show over the top! INCREDIBLE I loved the little jokes between songs and surprises (orchestra director joined In during I feel like dancing) I can’t say enough how much I love him and will forever be a lifelong fan!!
There was some confusion as to where the event was being held in accordance to the box office. Chairs and spacing was a bit tight if seated next to a more burly person, some rows were stadium style seating and others were regular chairs. It was a bit hot and muggy. Bar line was super slow and lines crossed with the merch and entrance to the theater. Sound and lighting was great. The attendants assisting with finding seats and etc were all very kind and helpful.
My hubby and I saw Jason Mraz at Pechanga, in Temecula, California. It was such a tremendous show. From his casual meet and greet before show to his opening act. Everything was perfect. He is a wordsmith and those rhymes are perfection. I love live music and his is by far one of the best I’ve ever seen. The venue was smallish and it suited us perfectly. Love artists in the large stadiums but not our thing any more. He is so delightful and really sexy.
Jason Mraz and his band put on a great show! All of his musicians are incredible and he is so personable, funny and talented. I loved the way he interacted with the audience. And played ALL my favorite tunes!
Love Jason Mraz and how he gives back to the artistic industry but the concert was too groovy for me. Too much of others not enough Jason. Very glad the venue was close to home.
Phenomenal performance with the San Diego symphony! Loved the extra songs Jason chose that weren’t on his typical set list. They worked perfect with the orchestra. Molly Miller Trio was a great opening band and the Horns and Raining Jane killed it!! What a heartwarming, danceable evening we all had!! Sound and views at this venue are unmatched. Welcome home Jason! San Diego loves you, Billy and the band!!
Jason, and his music has always resonated with my spirit. Last year, in particular, his music was played more often and louder and with greater purpose than ever. He was the soundtrack of my life as I went through cancer treatment. He kept me inspired, ignited with positivity. Magical Mystical Rhythmical Radical Ride, the album, was released after my first round of chemo and played on repeat. Learning that this would be the tour theme, I booked tickets as soon as pre-sale tickets became available - racing hime from one of my later rounds of radiation. I knew I would make the this drive no matter what. I did, in fact make that happen 3 weeks post-op of my latest round of surgeries. It was everything and more than I could have manifested!! This intimate venue allowed us to enjoy every rendition of each song on his set list. This opportunity was a true bookend of a challenging year for health & wellbeing and I was overcome with emotion & release. Jason is a gift to us all. Thankful Pechanga hosted him.
Jason Mraz was awesome! I love his voice & his music. His music style exudes a positive and calm feeling. I did not know that he’s a great dancer as well. He’s a great entertainer and performer.
Jason Mraz and all of the band were great! The Summit room at pechanga was not great. Our seats were in the second to last row. This was on a riser so tall we could almost touch the ceiling. Which meant all the heat in the room rose up to us. It was pretty miserable.
