Rob Thomas Concert Schedule
The impassioned voice behind post-grunge chart-topper Matchbox Twenty, Rob Thomas has also enjoyed a successful solo career kick-started by a collaboration with the legendary Carlos Santana. The singer-songwriter typically jumps between both of these musical worlds on tour, performing his own more polished pop-oriented material alongside new interpretations of his band's most-cherished emotive rock hits, while also showcasing his unique dance moves and compelling storytelling abilities. There have been plenty of opportunities to see Rob Thomas live over the years. He has embarked on headline treks to support all of his studio efforts, as well as a Special and Intimate Performance tour in 2014 and a series of joint shows with the Counting Crows in 2016.
Rob Thomas Background
Born in Landstuhl, West Germany, in 1972, Rob Thomas moved with his family to the US as a baby and lived a relatively nomadic childhood before settling in Orlando aged 11. Inspired by the country music of Merle Haggard and Johnny Cash, he began penning songs and performing in various cover bands as a teen, and in 1993 formed Tabitha's Secret, the group which would eventually evolve into Matchbox Twenty. As the frontman and chief songwriter, Thomas guided the band to phenomenal success, with 1996 debut, Yourself or Someone Like You, selling 12 million copies, and 2000 sophomore, Mad Season, spawning a number one single, "Bent." But Thomas' crowning glory arrived in 1999 when he teamed up with Carlos Santana on "Smooth," the three-time Grammy winning chart-topper which was later announced as the second-biggest US hit of the 20th century. Thomas launched his solo career proper in 2005 with Top 10 single "Lonely No More" and its parent album …Something to Be, a surprisingly poppier affair which drew comparisons with Justin Timberlake. Thomas spent the next decade alternating between Matchbox Twenty and his solo career. In 2012 he released album North with Matchbox Twenty. In 2009 he released his second solo album, C radlesong, followed by The Great Unknown in 2015. Fans can keep up to date with all things Rob Thomas by following him on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram. Great experience at Atlantic City. Rob is a great performer
Event was well organized, lots of staff in case you needed help…no long lines at the food/drink, bathrooms were busy but clean..only downfall; recommend closer parking areas…
I have been a fan of matchbox 20 and Rob Thomas since 1996. This is my second VIP experience although I was a little disappointed with the package the q&a was shorter than I expected and the wait time was very long they told us to be there at 2:00 he did not get our lanyards till probably 3:45 and then we had to wait until Rob was ready for us which is understandable so we didn't get in to see him until 4:30 4:45 he answered questions he is just the best he's funny and I am a true fan. I was very surprised when it was over and maybe 30 minutes when I went to foxwoods it lasted for almost 2 hours. The concert was great he never disappoints can't wait to see him again
I have seen Rob Thomas in concert, both solo and with MB20, MANY times (more than 40) and I think this was one of the shows I enjoyed the most. While I would prefer one of the other venues in Atlantic City, the show itself was wonderful. I'd also like to see Rob do more shows in the New England region.
Great Show - Always interacts with Audience - Plays favorites along with some new songs he's bringing into the mix - Never Disappoints
Rob Thomas in AC.. spectacular show! He always puts on a perfect performance and never disappoints! It’s fun to watch him perform with his son, Maison! You can really see how much he loves being up there with him! Rob also always has great stories to share!! Best singer/songwriter of all time! He sounds even better in person!
Rob takes time to explain songs and has the best voice.
I’ve seen Rob Thomas many times over the years, both with Matchbox 20 and as a solo artist. He never disappoints and sounds as good, if not better, than he did over 20 years ago. Knowing the profits from this concert are going to rescue animals, just like my sweet Nikki…well that’s a super sweet bonus ❤️💜🧡
He and his band are awesome ! Loved the whole show. Looking forward to his next performance.
